Teach Me To Number My Days

Psalms 90:12
So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.

The Bible reveals our life here on earth is but a vapor. When you take a look at the length of time we have here on earth it really isn’t that long. Moses in the above Psalm knew that if he had a better understanding of how short his time here on earth was, this would help him to live his life with greater wisdom. Jesus also warned us over and over to be ready for His return. In Mark 13:35-37 He tells us to watch for His return for you don’t know the day nor hour, lest He return and find us asleep.

The word asleep means to become bored with spiritual things, conforming to the world, no longer being influenced by the things of God. In Revelation 3:16 He said all who are lukewarm He would spew them out of His mouth when He returned, and this was a warning to believers. If we want to keep watch, to stay awake as a believer and not be found asleep when Jesus returns, we need to realize that our time here is short. Today many believers will tell you they are to busy to spend time with the Lord, or to busy to get involved with doing God’s work or going to church.

Let me give you an acronym for busy; Burdened Under Satan’s Yoke. If you are to busy to focus your life on what really matters, your relationship with God, and walking out His will for you, you have the wrong priorities. Take time each day to number your days here on earth, for it can help you to live your life with greater wisdom, knowing your time is short, so that you can make sure your priorities line up with His priorities. This will help you to not be found sleeping when He returns.
