True To Your Word

Matthew 5:37
Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.

Your heart and your words must agree for faith to work. Often believers will say one thing and then do something else. If you are not true to your word this will affect your faith. When you speak in faith you must believe in your heart that what you say is in fact already so, for you believe you receive when you pray. So when someone consistently says one thing but yet they do something else their heart doesn’t know whether to believe what they say is true or not. Make sure your yes means yes and your no means no, for it will affect your hearts ability to believe.

Speak The Word

Hebrews 4:14
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

When Jesus ascended into heaven He fulfilled all that was needed for us to be victorious here on earth. One of the major keys to walking in victory is holding fast to a faith filled confession. Consistently confess who you are, what you have, and what you can do in Christ. To hold fast your confession means to keep saying the same thing. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, therefore what you consistently confess, you will possess. Your words are carriers of seeds sown. Whatever a man sows, that he will reap. The key to changing your confession is in what you are feeding on. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So feed on God’s Word, hold fast to a confession of faith and you can watch your life change.

It Is Written

Hebrews 2:18
For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Because Jesus was tempted in all things and yet free from sin, He can now come to aid us in overcoming every temptation. There is nothing He cannot deliver us from. We simply follow in His example that He gave us in the wilderness. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and it is the Word that helps us overcome. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness He defeated each temptation by quoting scripture. As the devil would tempt Him in an area, Jesus countered that temptation with the Word of God as He would declare what was written in the scriptures. If we will feed on the Word we will have the ammunition to face and defeat the temptations that come. As scripture tells us when we hide God’s Word in our heart we will not sin against Him. The Word is an offensive weapon, the sword of the Spirit, and will help us overcome the temptations. We simply declare the Word to our enemy as Jesus did and therefore resist the temptation and He will flee. When temptations come to try and defeat you or mislead you, declare what is written and you too can overcome temptation.

Darkness Defeated

Hebrews 2:14
Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,…

Through the blood Jesus shed for us we have no reason to fear the devil. He has been rendered powerless to all who know their rightful place in Christ. In Ephesians chapter one we are told that God’s mighty power was seen when Jesus was raised from the dead, for He was seated far above all the powers of darkness and every name that is named. It goes on to tell us that all things were placed under His feet, to which He was made the head of His body. We are the body of Christ. All these powers of darkness were placed under our feet, for the very next chapter tells us that we have been raised up together and seated with Christ at the right hand of God. God’s right hand is the place of ultimate authority. For any believer to have fear of the devil or his works they do not understand their rightful place in Christ. Do not fear the devil nor his works. Rise up to your rightful place as a child of God and through the name of Jesus use your authority against our enemy who has been rendered powerless. The only power satan can use against you is by deceiving you or seducing you to be under his control. Walk in your rightful place and keep him under your feet where he belongs.

Jesus Tasted Death For Us

Hebrews 2:9
But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

Jesus tasted death for all who put their trust in Him. Death is separation from God and separation from the God-kind of life He wants us to live. Because Jesus tasted death for us we can now walk in the abundant life He has provided. A key to receiving this abundant life has to do with what we feed on and then speak over our lives. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Jesus said man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from God. Jesus also said the Words He spoke are Spirit and they are life. Out of the abundance of the heart one speaks. So we now have the choice to continue to taste death by feeding on worldly things and therefore tasting death through the words we speak, or we can feed on God’s Word and taste life by speaking His Word. Life and death has been set before us, choose life by feeding on and speaking God’s Word.

You Are In His Will

Titus 3:7
…so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

By grace (receiving what we did not deserve through faith in Christ) we have been declared righteous (justified), and made heirs. Having been made righteous (right with God), we are His children and therefore we now have a right to all that Christ has provided for us. When someone passes away they have a will. That will determines who will receive what that person had given to them as a part of their inheritance. Jesus having died for us provided to all who become a part of God’s family through being born again an inheritance. He wrote it in His will, the New Testament. If someone receives an inheritance from another person they have to claim that inheritance. So it is with what Christ has provided for us. He has given us in His will what we now have a right to, but we have to claim our inheritance. We don’t earn it, it already belongs to us, but we claim it by faith in His written will. Take time to read and meditate on His will for you and claim by faith what you as a child of God now have a right to.

Christ In You

Colossians 1:27
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The glory of God is His very presence. His glory is in us because He has given us the Holy Spirit. It is His very presence upon us, the anointing of God, that removes the burdens and destroys the yokes of bondage off of our lives. For us to experience the power of God’s presence working in our lives there are three things we should not do. Do not quench, resist, nor grieve the Holy Spirit. To quench the Holy Spirit is like putting water upon a fire and putting out that fire. There are believers whom scripture tells us have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. The Holy Spirit is known as the Spirit of Truth. Jesus said God’s Word is truth. The Word of God and the Spirit of God agree. He will never lead you out of line with God’s Word. Quenching the Spirit happens when we live contrary to the Word. When we do the Holy Spirit is being quenched by our lifestyle and we are denying His work in changing our lives. This leads to resisting the Holy Spirit, which means as the Spirit of God now tries to lead us away from wrong living by the inward witness we resist Him. The more we do our conscience is seared and becomes numb to the inward witness of the Spirit and He becomes grieved. So don’t quench, resist, nor grieve the Holy Spirit of God and you can walk in the hope of His glorious presence.

Rescued From Darkness

Colossians 1:13
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,…

When God made the earth and all that is in it and then made man placing him in a his beautiful garden created just for him, the Bible says it was good. There was no evil, no sickness, no sorrow, and no pain. All that is evil (not good) came from satan gaining access into this world through Adam and Eve’s act of disobedience. Darkness represents all that is evil. But praise God Jesus through His shed blood rescued us from this darkness taking us out from the kingdom of this world and transferring us into the kingdom of God. For all who know Jesus Christ have been placed right back into the very position Adam & Eve had before the fall. God told Adam he had dominion over all the earth and to therefore subdue it. Through our faith in Jesus Christ and our right standing with God we can do the same. The devil has only two weapons, deception and seduction. He will try to seduce us or deceive us into doing or thinking what is harmful and wrong to gain control over our lives. But we have been given the same authority Adam had to subdue the powers of the enemy. Don’t get seduced into doing or thinking things you know are not true. Keep your focus on God. To avoid deception renew your mind to the Word of God and don’t try to reason it out, just believe it and act upon it. God’s people parish for a lack of knowledge but if you know the truth that truth will set you free from deception. So keep your heart set on God, and walk in the reality of the Word and you can live on this earth in your rightful place with God, delivered from darkness and walking in the power of God’s kingdom and authority.

Working Out Your Salvation

Phil. 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Phil. 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Our obedience to God is how we work not for, but work out the salvation we have been given. As we choose to yield and be obedient to God’s Word, He empowers us to obtain our victory over the world in which we live for the word salvation means to be delivered. We are in the world but not of the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. Faith is obedience to God’s Word. As the book of James teaches us faith without corresponding action is dead. Smith Wigglesworth used to say that faith is an act. If you go to Hebrews chapter eleven known as the hall of faith, you will find that all these people who were spoken of by God as having faith simply did what God told them to do. For example Noah was told to build an ark so Noah built an ark. Abraham was told to leave his family and go out into the wilderness so he did. Jesus has already purchased all we need through His shed blood which is found in the salvation He has given us, but we must by faith work out that salvation. When you walk by faith it is God who is at work in you to do that which is pleasing unto Him for as you walk by faith, walking out what His Word teaches, His Word is at work accomplishing in and through you all He has provided through salvation.

Share The Gospel

Phil. 2:4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Phil. 2:5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

We should have the same attitude Jesus had once we are born again. We should be concerned about the outcome of other people and therefore reach out to them with the gospel of Christ. Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve. Jesus said in John 14:12 if we believe in Him the works He did we shall do also. We are to go into all the world and tell others the good news, proclaiming what Christ has done. We are to cast out demons, and lay hands on the sick and they will recover. Once we are born again we are to be about the Fathers business. This is a responsibility of the whole body of Christ, not just a select few. So if you believe in Jesus, we are to have the same attitude He had, having compassion for the lost and hurting, and reaching out to them with the power of the gospel. Jesus said He did not do the works but the Father in Him did the works He was doing. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and He went about doing good and healing those oppressed of the devil. We have the same Holy Spirit to do the work. He is waiting for us to step out in faith and allow Him to work through us.
