teaching you how to walk in the light of god's word

1 Peter 1:21
Through Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God.
How do we get our faith and hope centered on God? We begin by going to the Word of God, finding out what we have been given through Christ Jesus. Once we see these promises of what Christ has done for us, our hope (an expectation of good to come) is set on those promises. This becomes the goal of what we know He desires for us. Once we have this hope, we need to build our faith in these promises.
Faith is needed to see these promises come to pass, because faith then gives substance to what we hope for. Faith lays hold of the goal in our hearts (what became our hope), and it is by faith we obtain God’s promises. Faith is based on God’s Word and comes by hearing the Word of God proclaimed. We need to take God’s Word and begin to proclaim those promises as already ours to build our faith, until the Word becomes one with our spirit man (our heart).
As we do this, scripture teaches us to no longer look at what is seen in the natural, but to look to what is not yet seen or manifest, the Word of God. We continue to call those things which be not as though they were, just as God Himself does (Romans 4:17). When we become fully convinced that we now have what He has promised, we start thanking Him for it, and acting upon His Word for faith takes action. This is how we keep our hope and faith centered in God.
