Worry Free Living

Luke 12:22-23
22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

The most devastating sin is worry. When Jesus said, “Do not worry” that means to worry is a sin. When we worry we are not walking by faith, we are walking by sight. There are three key things you can do to overcome worry. First, get your focus on the kingdom of God and off of the world. You will find reading further in Luke 12 worry is a result of not seeking the kingdom of God, but instead seeking the things of this world. Jesus said when you become focused on God’s kingdom, all the things you have need of will be added unto you.

Secondly, cast all your care upon God. We are told to cast all our cares once and for all upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). God did not create us to be burdened with the cares of life, and that is why He said to cast them upon Him. When you allow the cares of life to rule your thoughts, you become a pack mule for the devil. When you release your cares to God, you must have scripture to stand on because thoughts will come to try and get you to worry. You cast those thoughts down by declaring what God’s Word says.

Third, choose to meditate on God’s Word, the good report. Philippians 4:8 tells us to meditate on God’s good report found in His Word instead of dwelling on all that is bad in life and in the world. Realize this, living a life of worry Jesus said will not add anything good to your life, and in fact doctors will tell you it is the most detrimental thing to your health. Every believer in Christ can live a worry free life, for if it was not so, Jesus would have never told us not to worry.
