Eternal Life

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Death refers to being separated from God who is life itself. It was sin that separated man from his relationship with God. Most think eternal life refers to the future when we go to heaven. It includes the future, but Jesus said in John 17:3 that eternal life was to know God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son. Because of the blood Jesus shed, all who receive this life have had their sin washed away, and can now develop an intimate relationship with the Father and His Son, and this is the very reason He came.

You should not wait until you get to heaven to know your heavenly Father. In the book of James we are told that if we draw near to God He will draw near to us. He has every answer you will ever need. We can draw near by fellowship through His Word. The Word of God is God speaking to us. Go to His Word just as if you were going to sit down and spend time with a friend.

Also take time to pray and develop your relationship with God. Don’t do all the talking, take time to get quite and listen. God’s door is always open to us, for we can come boldly to Him. When you spend time with God He rubs off on you. You will know true peace and contentment if you will just make it a priority to spend time with Him. Get to know God, not just know about Him, and you will experience the gift of eternal life.
