Gratitude – It Changes Everything

Hebrews 12:28
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

As a born again believer our life should reflect our gratitude for what our God has done for us. Gratitude leads us to live a life that is acceptable to Him, with reverence and awe of our God. Giving thanks to God is a result of a heart of gratitude. When one is grateful to God, they will be thankful. Our thanksgiving is based on who He is, not on what we may have in the natural, because gratitude comes as a result of focusing on Him, not on what we have.

Psalms 118:1 – Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Remember, giving thanks is the result of a heart of gratitude. Gratitude is the result of focusing on our God, not what we have been given. When you focus your life on God, you will see how good God is. Looking to Him we see that He is a merciful God. Mercy means to show compassion or kindness to someone, not because they deserve it, but because of your love for another. Our God is good because He has been merciful to us, showing His kindness through the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

When you get your focus off of this world, your ways, and the things of this world, and just focus on your God, you will see just how good He is. Doing so leads to a heart of gratitude. The result will be giving thanks to Him because of His goodness to us. Thanksgiving scripture reveals magnifies God, not our problems. It leads to a life of abundant faith. It also makes us aware of the very presence of God Himself. So focus your life fully on Him, and you will live a life of gratitude because of who He is, a good God!
