2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Once we are born again to live a life that is complete with all God desires for us, we must allow God’s Word to do it’s work in our life. In the above verse we see that not only is scripture inspired by God, but it is profitable to our lives if we allow these four aspects of God’s Word to work in us. Let’s take a look at these four things revealed here in scripture and how they apply to our life.
We come to know the Truth through sound doctrine. Sound doctrine is teaching founded upon what God’s Word says, not what man thinks about it, but taking God’s Word In context to the whole of scripture. This is why we need a shepherd who has been gifted by God to teach us the Truth, and not man’s idea of the Truth. As we receive sound doctrine reproof will come. Reproof means a revealing of wrongdoing. God’s Word will reveal where we need to make changes in our life so we can stop doing things that are not good for us. If we receive this reproof it will lead to correction from the Word of God.
God’s Word will give us the understanding of how to correct these areas of our life so we can make changes. As we receive and apply correction we will also get further insight into God’s instructions for living out our life so that we can walk in the righteousness that we have been given, and all that comes with our right-standing with God. If you want to live a life complete with what God desires for you then you must receive this working of God’s Word in your life. For those who do, the Truth will become very profitable for them.
