What It Means To Be A Christian

Acts 11:26b – And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Have you ever looked up the definition here for the word “Christians”? It is defined in the original Greek language as one who follows and adheres to the ways of Christ. Think of how many people today say they are a Christian. Doing so would mean you are adhering to how Jesus set an example for us to live. Let me throw out some questions here.

Did Jesus, who was not married, have sexual relations with other women? Answer is no. Why do many have sexual relationships outside of marriage today and call themselves a Christian? Would Jesus watch such T. V. shows such as Yellowstone or movies filled with profanity and nudity? Obvious answer would be no. Why do so many today, all for the purpose of entertainment do so and gladly tell the world they are a Christian.

Saying your a Christian, one who chooses to adhere to the life of Christ, is something we should not take lightly.

1 Corinthians 6:20 – You have been purchased at a great price, so use your body to bring glory to God!

Choosing not to follow after Christ is choosing not to be a Christian. Being born again is a gift, which enables you to learn the best way to live life, following in the footsteps of Jesus.
