He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things.
Is there anything a person could do to earn the salvation that God offers? The answer of course is clear, we could not. If we could Jesus would not have needed to die for us. Not only could we not earn our salvation, we were far from perfect, for we were sinners in need of salvation. So once we are born again why do so many believers think they must earn the promises of God we have been given through Christ Jesus?
The scripture above clearly states that if God did not spare His Son, but delivered Him up for us to be saved, how then would He also not freely give us all things? We are the one’s who think somehow after being saved we have to convince God to give us what He has already freely provided through the redeeming work of Jesus. But the same way we received salvation is the same way we receive His promises, by faith in what He has already done.
Many are trying to get God to do something for them when in fact, just like salvation, God has already provided what was needed to be done through Jesus Christ. We must simply receive by faith in our hearts what God has said in His Word belongs to us. We don’t earn any promise from God, just as we don’t earn our salvation, for He has freely given us all things.
