Strong In God’s Grace

2 Timothy 2:1

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

The grace we have in Christ is able to bring great strength to the believer. Grace is help from heaven, what God is able to do in and through your life. The Word of God says that He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Pride is a result of focusing on yourself, your own will and what you want. Those who are humble are focused on God and what His will is for them.

Those who are humble remain teachable, and therefore are always looking to God and His Word, fully submitting their lives to God and His desires for their life. Those who are humble recognize they have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus, and their life is not their own, they now belong to God. The humble also see themselves through what the Word of God says about them, agreeing with who God says they are. One who does so is going to be strong in the grace of God, walking in the ability God gives to them.

God resists the proud, those who are living life for themselves and what they desire, who also do not agree with the Word of God. Such people will not receive the help God has for them for they are choosing to live life on their own terms, and this hinders their ability to receive from God. So keep your focus on God and His Word, speaking and acting upon what scripture teaches us, remaining yielded unto His will, and you can receive more grace (help from heaven).
