The Word Alive In You

John 15:7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

This is one of the most powerful truths in the Bible. Think about what Jesus said here. To abide means to remain one with. We abide in Jesus when we become born again and follow after Him, being led by the Holy Spirit. We must listen and respond to the voice of our spirit man, our conscience. Doing so will keep us united in our walk with Him. His Word must also abide in us. One translation of this verse tells us His Word must come alive in us.

The Word coming alive in you means that Word is producing faith within your heart. This is a vital key for us to see this verse of scripture work for us. Many may have head knowledge of God’s Word, but that is not the same as His Word coming alive within your heart. Until it does it will not have the power to produce through us what God has said. The only way God’s Word comes alive in us is by hearing the Truth of God’s Word proclaimed, not man-made religion.

This takes more then just sitting and listening to the Word preached. You must give the Word of God your full attention. Beyond hearing the Word preached in church, you need to proclaim God’s Word to yourself until it becomes real to you. When it does, faith is present; and as you remain one with Jesus, and His Word becomes alive in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.
